Timothy J. Cho is the founder of Cho Law Firm, LLC and a former Assistant State’s Attorney and Assistant Corporation Counsel for the City of Chicago. With years of experience handling complex criminal matters, Tim has built his practice on strong courtroom advocacy, strategic problem-solving, and a practical understanding of the legal system from the inside.

Before becoming a licensed attorney, Tim served as a 711 law clerk with both the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office and the Will County State’s Attorney’s Office, where he gained early hands-on courtroom and prosecution experience. He later built on that foundation as a prosecutor, handling a wide range of misdemeanor and felony cases and trying hundreds of bench and jury trials. His courtroom experience allows him to assess cases quickly, anticipate opposing strategies, and advocate effectively for clients in high-stakes matters.

In addition to his trial work, Tim has trained law enforcement officers on criminal investigations and constitutional issues, including search and seizure. His training also included instruction on DUI investigations, enforcement, and compliance with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) manual and related standards. He draws on that experience to provide clients with practical, informed counsel and aggressive representation in criminal defense and other complex legal matters.

Education & Honors

Tim earned his J.D. from Chicago-Kent College of Law, where he was a multiple-time Dean’s List recipient, a member of the school’s National Trial Team, and a member of the APALSA Moot Court Team. He also received the CALI Award for Criminal Litigation and Trial Advocacy, an honor awarded to the highest-achieving student in the class.
